Domain controller with no recent logon
The controller is still registered in the forest and still changes its machine password, but no logon has been seen for 30 days.
Why it matters
It may be an unused spare, or it may have stopped serving clients without anyone noticing. Either way, it holds full domain rights and nobody is watching it.
How GraphnAI finds it
It runs after every sync, on each connected domain or tenant on its own. It applies to Active Directory.
It reads:
- The directory attributes
userAccountControl, pwdLastSetandlastLogonTimestamp - The domain controller configuration scan
Tiered Fidelity™ level: Theoretical
Every finding from this check carries the Theoretical level.
- TheoreticalThis checkConfigured in the directory. Nothing else checked.
- ConstrainedA constraint on it has been checked.
- ValidatedTelemetry has seen it in use.
Why there's no automatic fix
Disabling a registered domain controller would break the domain.
How to fix it
Confirm whether the controller is still needed. If it isn't, demote it and clean up its metadata.
