Service principal has more permissions than its peers
This service principal holds more permission weight than other service principals of the same kind in your tenant, by more than two standard deviations.
Why it matters
Permissions an app doesn't use are what an attacker gets for free when they steal its credential.
How GraphnAI finds it
It runs after every sync, on each connected domain or tenant on its own. It applies to Microsoft Entra ID.
It reads:
- The directory attribute
servicePrincipalType - One more GraphnAI analysis
Tiered Fidelity™ level: Theoretical
Every finding from this check carries the Theoretical level.
- TheoreticalThis checkConfigured in the directory. Nothing else checked.
- ConstrainedA constraint on it has been checked.
- ValidatedTelemetry has seen it in use.
Why there's no automatic fix
Which of an app's permissions it still needs is a judgment made in Microsoft Entra with the app's owner.
How to fix it
Review this app's permissions against apps of the same kind and remove the ones it doesn't need.
