Single sign-on computer account key is old (T1558.002)
The AZUREADSSOACC computer account holds the Kerberos decryption key for Microsoft Entra single sign-on. Microsoft advises rolling that key at least every 30 days.
Why it matters
Anyone who steals the key can forge service tickets for any synced user and reach Microsoft Entra as that user. An old key stays useful to them for longer.
How GraphnAI finds it
It runs after every sync, on each connected domain or tenant on its own. It applies to Active Directory.
It reads:
- The directory attributes
sAMAccountNameandpwdLastSet
Tiered Fidelity™ level: Theoretical
Every finding from this check carries the Theoretical level.
- TheoreticalThis checkConfigured in the directory. Nothing else checked.
- ConstrainedA constraint on it has been checked.
- ValidatedTelemetry has seen it in use.
Why there's no automatic fix
Rolling the key is an on-premises PowerShell procedure that runs on the Microsoft Entra Connect server.
How to fix it
If seamless single sign-on is in use, roll the Kerberos decryption key of the AZUREADSSOACC computer account. If it's turned off, delete the AZUREADSSOACC computer account from each forest.
